We are seeking a qualified and experienced Geotechnical Engineer for a 12-month contract to support a major infrastructure project at a dam site in Mission, BC. This fully onsite role is ideal for a detail-oriented, safety-focused professional with proven experience in field inspections for earthworks and coordination with construction managers, contractors, and design teams on complex civil projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections for earthworks and civil activities at a major generation facility.

• Collaborate closely with construction managers, contractors, and internal design teams to ensure safe and compliant execution.

• Develop engineering solutions by interpreting specifications, analyzing site data, and resolving issues in the field.

• Support project and operations management with reporting, cost control inputs, and work schedule coordination.

• Perform occasional on-site quality control checks to verify design implementation.

• Contribute to engineering design reviews and safety evaluations for medium complexity civil/geotechnical works.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a relevant engineering field (preferably geotechnical or civil).

• Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science or Engineering.

• Active P.Eng registration with Engineers & Geoscientists BC (or eligible to transfer from another Canadian jurisdiction).

• Permit to Practice (either personally held or through your firm).

• Proven experience conducting field inspections for earthworks and supporting major infrastructure construction.

• Demonstrated coordination skills with contractors, consultants, and site teams.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in geotechnical design.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Team-oriented mindset with ability to manage site-level priorities.

• Familiarity with CAD standards and geotechnical analysis software.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional Notes

• This is a safety-sensitive and security-sensitive position; compliance with drug and alcohol testing is mandatory.

• Candidates must have or use a firm with a Permit to Practice and be comfortable sealing work digitally.
