About the Opportunity

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Transportation Engineer (Design / Planning) on behalf of a well-established, multidisciplinary consulting firm.
This is an opportunity for an intermediate-level engineer (4+ years) to work on a diverse range of transportation infrastructure projects across Western Canada, including urban roadways, highways, and multimodal corridors.
The role is suited for professionals looking to grow into leadership positions while gaining exposure to both transportation planning and detailed design within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities
Transportation Planning

• Support and lead components of transportation planning studies (TMPs, TIAs, corridor studies)
• Conduct traffic analysis, concept development, and options evaluation
• Prepare technical reports, memos, and cost estimates
• Support client meetings and public engagement activities

Transportation Design

• Contribute to preliminary and detailed design of transportation infrastructure
• Assist with proposal development, scoping, and budgeting
• Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and tender documentation
• Support contract administration and construction activities

Project Delivery & Growth

• Support Project Managers with scope, schedule, and budget tracking
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development
• Assist with client relationship management and business development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related discipline
• P.Eng. (or equivalent) or eligible for registration in Canada
• 4+ years of experience in transportation planning and/or design in Canada
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary transportation projects
• Strong experience with technical documentation and reporting
• Proven ability to support or lead project components

Technical Skills
Experience with some of the following tools is preferred:

• AutoCAD Civil 3D (including Vehicle Tracking)
• AutoTURN
• Synchro / SIDRA
• TORUS, Softree, Cap-X
