MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Junior Estimator to join our client, a nationally active contractor delivering complex civil and structural projects across Canada. This is a strong opportunity for a developing estimator to gain hands-on exposure to diverse infrastructure work, while building technical depth and long-term career growth within a collaborative estimating team.

Key Responsibilities

• Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications to determine full project scope, requirements, and risk factors
• Monitor and incorporate addenda to ensure accuracy and completeness of bids
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for labour, equipment, and materials
• Develop preliminary schedules aligned with key milestones and completion timelines
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive bids
• Prepare full cost estimates using industry software, including labour, materials, equipment, and markups
• Compile and submit complete tender packages in accordance with submission requirements
• Coordinate with consultants, project teams, and external stakeholders throughout the bid process
• Identify project risks and contribute to execution planning prior to project award

Qualifications & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in construction, estimating, or project coordination
• Experience with a general contractor or in civil construction is preferred
• Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is an asset
• Exposure to estimating scopes such as bridges, pile driving, roads, earthworks, drainage, demolition, or concrete structures is highly valued
• Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and tendering processes
• Familiarity with quantity take-offs, subcontractor procurement, and bid closing procedures

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project)
• Experience with estimating software (Bid2Win preferred)
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or On-Screen Takeoff tools
• Ability to support schedule development and interpret project timelines
