Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Maintenance Mechanical Engineer to work on a 1-year contract for one of BC's largest utility and energy companies.

Location: Burnaby, BC | Hybrid (2 days per week in office)

Responsibilities:
The main purpose of this role is to develop and implement electricity generation equipment preventive maintenance programs and to support Asset Management and Safety related initiatives.

• Contribute to the development of safe engineering solutions by conducting studies of limited scope and applying established methods and techniques to solve project or operational problems.
• Assist with specific aspects of more complex engineering tasks, adhering to prescribed analysis, design, or computation methods under the close supervision of a senior professional engineer who reviews work for accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in engineering practice by applying standards, making routine technical decisions, and following detailed instructions to maintain engineering standards.
• Independently perform periodic tasks, including on-site construction quality control and monitoring to ensure design compliance.

Requirements:
1.    Experience developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment, including supporting documentation such as maintenance procedures, maintenance instructions, record forms as well as selection of required spare parts to sustain equipment operation.  All deliverables with quality, within budget, and on time.
2.    Must have minimum two (2) years of engineering experience working in the equipment maintenance and/or commissioning field, or equivalent.
3.    Experience with operation, maintenance, and remediation of failures of equipment and systems in the power utility industry, oil and gas industry, or heavy industrial environment
4.    Experience developing preventive maintenance programs and/or developing/performing commissioning plans for a variety of mechanical assets such as:
•    Compressed air equipment (compressors, filters, dryers, control valves, receivers, etc)
•    Water passage gates & valves (hydraulic oil powered,  motor actuated)
•    Water distribution systems (pumps, filters, strainers, valves, etc)
•    Ventilation equipment
•    Diesel generators
•    Cranes & hoists
•    Hydraulic Oil systems
5.    As a minimum, registered Engineer-in-Training or Geoscientist-in-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or another jurisdiction and/or eligible for registration as such with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
