Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of our client, a locally respected engineering consultancy known for delivering large-scale, high-impact projects. With a strong focus on reducing energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions, they are redefining the future of building systems through innovative design.

As part of the Buildings Engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on diverse and meaningful projects, including healthcare and institutional facilities. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is ready to take ownership of projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects and guide internal teams, providing clear direction and mentorship.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring excellent relationship management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Oversee project implementation and construction administration activities.
• Prepare and deliver engineering design documents, drawings, and technical reports.
• Represent the team in client meetings and maintain open, consistent communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technologist certification.
• Registered as a P.Eng or P.Tech with EGBC/ASTT.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and standards (BCBC, VBBL, ASHRAE, CSA, NFPA).
• Proven ability to lead engineering project teams with confidence and effective communication.
• Understanding of building control systems and energy-efficient design principles.
• Proficiency with drafting and modeling software.
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with client interactions and business development is an asset.
