MatchBox Consulting Group is on the hunt for a Mechanical Engineer in Toronto. Our client is a nationally recognized mechanical engineering firm with offices across Canada, including Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, and Kelowna. Specializing in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems design, we cater to diverse sectors such as commercial, healthcare, institutional, residential, and mixed-use high-rise projects. Responsibilities 

• Lead and delegate tasks for projects of various sizes, overseeing mechanical designers and intermediate engineers.
• Provide technical guidance to clients and collaborate with project sub-consultants, attending design and coordination meetings as needed.
• Mentor and review the work of Mechanical Designers and Intermediate Engineers, ensuring adherence to project standards and timelines.
• Analyze design proposals, select mechanical equipment, and prepare schematic design, development reports, and construction drawings.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with other disciplines, track project progress, and manage budgets to meet deadlines.
• Assist in contract administration by reviewing shop drawings, addressing RFIs, and striving for high-quality workmanship and project timelines.

Requirements:

• Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 6 years of experience as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng. or PE), or P.L. Eng qualification accepted.
• Comprehensive understanding of building systems and their interplay with mechanical systems, including architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and fire systems.
• Proficient in interpreting construction drawings and specifications, with a strong grasp of relevant plumbing and building codes.
• Excellent written communication skills and proficiency in software programs like Microsoft Word, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and REVIT.
• Capable of hands-on design work without direct project management oversight.
