Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking two Municipal Engineers to join our client’s multidisciplinary engineering team in Edmonton, Alberta. These roles offer the opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects that directly impact communities across the province.

About the Opportunity
You will contribute to planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, leading technical design and review, performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, preparing cost estimates, and providing contract administration support. You will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage with stakeholders, and participate in proposal preparation for new projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design and review of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Oversee technical quality, ensuring drawings, reports, and specifications meet standards.
• Support construction administration, including submittal review and progress tracking.
• Coordinate utility reviews and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
• Contribute to flood mitigation, water supply, and utility rehabilitation initiatives.

Qualifications:

• P.Eng. or P.Tech. designation (or eligibility).
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in municipal infrastructure projects.
• Experience with design software such as Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
• Knowledge of construction contracts, drawings interpretation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Bonus: Hydraulic modeling software experience (PCSWMM, InfoWorks ICM), business development, and previous Edmonton-area projects.
