Preconstruction Manager

Location: Langley, BC

MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting on behalf of a well-established General Contractor in the Lower Mainland seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys being involved in projects from the earliest stages, working closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to set projects up for success. The successful candidate will play a key role in budgeting, estimating, value engineering, scheduling, and proposal development across a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, industrial, and mixed-use projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction activities from project pursuit through contract award.
• Prepare conceptual and detailed budgets, cost plans, and estimates.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, consultants, and trade partners during the design and planning phases.
• Conduct value engineering exercises and provide cost-saving recommendations.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and milestone plans during preconstruction.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to identify risks and opportunities.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier pricing requests and evaluate bids.
• Support proposal submissions, presentations, and client meetings.
• Work closely with project management and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to construction.
• Provide market intelligence related to labour, materials, and construction costs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, project management, or a related construction leadership role.
• Experience working for a General Contractor on commercial, institutional, industrial, or mixed-use projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, budgets, procurement strategies, and project delivery models.
• Ability to prepare and review conceptual and detailed estimates.
• Experience with value engineering, cost planning, and risk assessment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is considered an asset.
