Preconstruction Manager

On behalf of our client, Matchbox Consulting is seeking a Preconstruction Manager. The client, a leading real estate company, is preparing for significant growth and is seeking an experienced Manager, Preconstruction. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of preconstruction, including conceptual estimating, design coordination, permitting, and budgeting. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring project success from inception.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop and implement preconstruction strategy under the guidance of the Director, Preconstruction.
• Conduct detailed cost analysis using advanced estimating software.
• Provide constructive feedback during design development meetings to ensure constructability and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage preconstruction budgets and implement cost control measures.
• Assess and mitigate project risks, collaborating closely with contract administrators.
• Source, vet, and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Lead and mentor a team of estimators, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of estimating experience, preferably in general contracting.
• Strong familiarity with British Columbia's construction market and regulations.
• Proficiency in reading design drawings and construction assemblies.
• Familiarity with BIM or Revit software is advantageous.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
• Established relationships with relevant sub-trades in multi-family and mixed-use construction.
• Onsite or sub-trade experience is a plus.
