Summary
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Procurement Specialist with industry experience on behalf of our client for an expanding procurement team. This role is ideal for a procurement professional with experience in the cement, aggregates, or a closely related industry who can work independently, build strong relationships with operations, and identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and reduce costs.

The successful candidate will coordinate procurement activities, manage supplier relationships, support contract negotiations, support plant capital projects, and use Power BI and advanced Excel to turn complex data into actionable business insights. Strong analytical skills are essential, particularly the ability to use Power BI and advanced Excel to analyze spending, build dashboards, and turn data into actionable business recommendations.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate operational and tactical procurement of goods and services in accordance with category strategies, procurement policies, and established procedures.
- Build relationships with local management and operations teams to understand purchasing needs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage relationships with equipment and maintenance service suppliers.
- Support supplier negotiations involving pricing, volumes, processes, and quality requirements in collaboration with procurement leadership and category management.
- Support plant capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects by coordinating requests for quotation and other RFx processes in accordance with procurement policies.
- Prepare contracts and supplier agreements using approved templates.
- Analyze large datasets using Power BI and advanced Excel to identify spending patterns, savings opportunities, and operational improvements.
- Develop dashboards, performance reports, and data-driven recommendations to support procurement decisions and business planning.
- Track and report cost savings, supplier performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support procurement process improvements, supply efficiency, and quality initiatives.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with internal controls, applicable policies, and relevant regulations.
- Communicate procurement policies and procedures to internal stakeholders and support their implementation.
- Ensure site contractors are set up in accordance with safety requirements and adhere to applicable health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
Must-Haves
- 4–5 years of procurement experience.
- Experience procuring building materials. Relevant industry experience is a critical requirement.
- Strong Power BI and data analytics skills, including experience building dashboards and analyzing complex datasets to identify trends, savings opportunities, and business improvements.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to translate data into practical recommendations that support decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across operations, management, and suppliers.
- A proactive, independent approach to problem-solving, with the ability to take initiative and drive tasks through to completion.
- Strong business acumen and customer service skills, with a focus on understanding operational needs and delivering value.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle, as travel to various sites is required.
- Ability to travel legally to the United States.
Nice-to-Haves
- University degree, preferably in Business or Supply Chain Management.
- Experience with strategic sourcing, supply chain management, and procurement process improvement.
- Experience with eRFQ and eAuction systems.
- SAP experience.
- Experience supporting plant operations and equipment procurement, including process plant equipment, heavy mobile equipment, spare parts, and maintenance contracts.
- Experience supporting plant CAPEX initiatives and coordinating RFx processes.
- Knowledge of procurement-related technical product lines.
