Project Accountant

On behalf of our client, Matchbox Consulting is seeking a Project Accountant to join their growing team in Vancouver, BC. Our client is active in acquisition, redevelopment, leasing and management of a wide variety of commercial and residential real estate for over 50 years. 

Core Responsibilities

• Full cycle accounting, including processing of payables and receivable.
• Planning and setup of accounting system for new development projects.
• Maintaining property management accounts.
• Reviewing G/L and preparation of monthly reporting to external parties as required.
• Preparation of government filings, such as GST, PST, etc.
• Communication with vendors regarding invoice and statement discrepancies, and missing invoices.
• Reconciliation of bank accounts.
• Assist in investigating unusual transactions.
• Setting up of leases in Spectra.
• Prepare related party invoices and payments.
• Maintain organized and accurate records of financial transactions.
• Assist with the year-end audit process including preparation of working paper and analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required

Experience Required:

• A university degree or college diploma, preferably in Accounting.
• About 1 – 2 years of Accounting experience, with a focus in project accounting.
• Experience within a high-volume environment.
• Solid attention to detail, proactively following up when needed to ensure outstanding information or actions are completed on time.
• Analytical skills to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter who will take ownership of responsibilities, knows when to ask for help and is comfortable doing so
