Role Summary
Seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to oversee planning, coordination, and execution of asphalt paving, base asphalt, and related civil infrastructure projects. Primary responsibilities include managing budgets, schedules, and ensuring high-quality delivery per engineering standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership: Manage full lifecycle of paving and civil infrastructure projects—from pre-construction and bidding through to close-out.

Coordination: Interface with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities. Ensure stakeholder alignment and effective communication.

Planning & Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project schedules; monitor and adjust timelines to meet deadlines and handle disruptions.

Budget & Cost Control: Prepare cost estimates, monitor expenditures, and proactively address variances through cost control measures.

Quality Assurance & Safety: Implement quality control procedures; enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols. Conduct inspections and audits on-site.

Permitting & Compliance: Secure necessary permits and approvals; maintain documentation to ensure compliance with municipal and provincial regulations.

Resource Management: Allocate labor, equipment, and materials efficiently. Track usage and optimize productivity.

Reporting: Deliver regular project updates—milestone progress, financial status, risk assessments—to senior leadership and clients.

Risk Management: Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies for schedule delays, material supply issues, and site conditions.
Qualifications
-
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management (or equivalent experience).

5+ years managing civil or paving infrastructure projects in BC—exposure to municipal and heavy industrial standards preferred.

Demonstrated expertise in asphalt paving (BA blacktop), subgrade prep, site grading, overlays, and maintenance.

Proficient in project controls: planning, budgeting, contract administration, and reporting tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

Thorough knowledge of WorkSafeBC, environmental protection, and municipal road construction standards.

Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

PMP certification or Gold Seal certification considered an asset.

Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License; willingness to work on-site and adapt schedule based on project needs.
