MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Manager for our client, a well-established and growing civil construction contractor based in the Fraser Valley.

Our client is a privately owned civil contractor specializing in earthworks, underground utilities, roadworks, and site development throughout British Columbia. Their organization has grown steadily and now delivers municipal, commercial, and institutional projects, with typical values ranging from $500K to $5M, and select projects reaching $8M+.

Projects are delivered both as a general contractor and as a civil subcontractor for larger GCs. The Opportunity
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of civil construction projects, working closely with field teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who is confident in the field, organized in their approach, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
Pre-Construction

Review contracts, bonding requirements, and project documentation

Lead project kick-off meetings and establish project controls

Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams

Manage submittals, shop drawings, and material procurement
Construction
-
Monitor daily production and attend project meetings

Manage RFIs, change orders, and monthly progress claims

Track budgets, schedules, costs, and committed spend

Maintain clear communication with clients, consultants, and site teams

Support safety, quality, and overall project execution
Close-Out
-
Oversee QA/QC documentation, as-builts, and O&M manuals

Manage Substantial and Final Completion processes

Lead final project reviews and close-out activities
Qualifications
-
Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager in civil construction

Strong understanding of project sequencing, cost control, and contract administration

Experience managing change orders, RFIs, and progress billing

Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Acumatica, MS Project, or similar)

Strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
Work Environment

Office-based role in Chilliwack, BC, with regular site visits

Exposure to active construction sites and outdoor work year-round

PPE required on site

Hours vary by project and may include early starts or occasional extended days
