Job Title: Civil Project Manager
Location: Vancouver, BC
Industry: Civil Construction (Contractor)

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Civil Project Manager to lead and manage civil construction projects in Vancouver. The Civil Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project planning, execution, and completion, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and communication with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, including roads, infrastructure, earthworks, and utilities, and a proven track record of successfully managing projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, resource allocations, and risk management strategies for civil construction projects such as roadways, site development, and utilities.
  • Team Leadership: Lead project teams, including engineers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and other personnel, ensuring clear communication and collaboration across all levels.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Manage project budgets and financials, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within the allocated budget. Monitor costs, approve expenditures, and provide regular financial reporting to senior management.
  • Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring that all tasks are completed according to timelines. Proactively address potential delays and adjust schedules as necessary.
  • Subcontractor Management: Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that all project requirements are met, and quality standards are maintained. Negotiate contracts, scope of work, and pricing agreements.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards. Implement safety plans and ensure the project team adheres to safety protocols on-site.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize the impact on project timelines and budgets. Address issues as they arise to keep the project on track.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor work progress and ensure the highest quality of workmanship. Implement quality control procedures to meet project specifications and industry standards.
  • Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring that their expectations are met, and fostering positive relationships. Provide regular updates on project progress and address any concerns or issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, schedules, change orders, financial reports, and communications. Ensure all documentation is up to date and in compliance with company policies and project requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in civil project management, with a strong focus on roads, earthworks, infrastructure, and utilities.
  • Education: A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Certification: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is an asset.
  • Software: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and standards. Familiarity with local construction codes, environmental regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and drive successful project outcomes.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges and conflicts.
  • Time Management: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with large-scale civil infrastructure projects in the Vancouver area
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and environmental considerations
  • Experience working with local municipalities and utility providers
