About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with more than 130 employees across North America. The company has experienced significant growth across Canada and continues to expand its structural engineering practice.

This is a growth hire, created by continued project demand rather than replacement. The Calgary office is a priority market, with a strong pipeline of projects heading into 2026 and 2027.

The successful candidate will join an established structural engineering team and have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work closely with senior leadership, and contribute to the continued growth of the Calgary office.

The Role

We are seeking a Structural Project Manager with a strong structural engineering background and consulting experience. You will be responsible for delivering structural engineering projects involving new construction, renovations, rehabilitation and existing buildings.

This role combines technical structural design, project management, client relationships and team collaboration, with projects primarily located throughout Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structures for new construction, renovation, restoration and rehabilitation projects.
• Evaluate existing buildings and structural systems across a range of materials.
• Prepare structural engineering drawings, reports, specifications, calculations and construction documents.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables and scope.
• Conduct site reviews and contract administration inspections.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout construction.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects and other consultants.
• Attend client meetings and represent the organization professionally.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners.
• Prepare project proposals, evaluation reports and technical documentation.
• Support and mentor junior engineers, EITs and other team members.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design coordination and knowledge sharing.
• Stay current with structural engineering standards, codes and industry best practices.
• Travel occasionally within Canada, with the majority of projects located in Alberta.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant structural engineering experience, preferably with a consulting engineering firm.
• Experience with new construction and/or existing commercial, institutional or residential buildings.
• Strong technical knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials and systems.
• Registered with or actively pursuing registration with APEGA.
• Experience with structural design software such as ETABS, S-Frame, spSlab or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Experience applying project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation and scope control.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors and consultants.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Client-focused approach with a positive and collaborative attitude.
• Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation.

Compensation & Benefits

• $90,000–$120,000 base salary
