About the Opportunity

Our client, Sense Engineering, is a growing multidisciplinary engineering firm with more than 130 employees across North America. With continued growth across Canada and a strong project pipeline heading into 2026/2027, they are expanding their established Structural Engineering practice in Calgary.

This is a growth hire, not a replacement position. The successful candidate will join a collaborative structural team and have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work directly with senior leadership, and contribute to the continued growth of the Calgary office.

Sense’s core services include structural engineering and building restoration, with expanding capabilities across mechanical, electrical, building envelope, accessibility, energy optimization and capital planning.

The Role

As a Structural Project Manager, you will manage and deliver structural engineering projects involving new construction, renovations, rehabilitation and existing buildings. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through construction.

The role is well suited to a structural engineer with consulting-firm experience who enjoys a combination of technical design, project management, client interaction and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structures for new construction, renovation, restoration and rehabilitation projects.
• Evaluate existing buildings and structural systems across a range of materials and building types.
• Prepare engineering drawings, reports, specifications, proposals and construction documents.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables and scope.
• Conduct site reviews and contract administration inspections during construction.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout project delivery.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and other consultants to coordinate project requirements.
• Attend client meetings and represent Sense professionally at networking and industry functions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and project partners.
• Support and mentor junior engineers, EITs and other team members.
• Continue developing technical knowledge and stay current with industry standards and best practices.
• Contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment and support knowledge sharing.
• Travel occasionally within Canada, with the majority of projects located in Alberta.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of relevant structural engineering experience, ideally within a consulting engineering firm.
• Experience with new construction and/or existing institutional, commercial and residential buildings.
• Strong technical knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials and systems.
• Registered with or actively pursuing registration with APEGA.
• Proficiency with structural design software such as S-Frame, ETABS or spSlab.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting, resource allocation, scheduling and scope control.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to build relationships and establish trust with clients, contractors and consultants.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Client-focused approach with a positive, collaborative attitude.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation.
