MatchBox Consulting is currently seeking a Senior Analyst, Corporate Accounting for a 12-month contract role with our Victoria based client. A local Victoria based candidate who can work 4 days in office is preferred but the client can potentially consider a BC based candidate to work remotely with occassional on-site meetings in Victoria or Vancouver.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
 

• Supports and participates in all financial accounting, management, and reporting aspects of actual results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Works closely with the FP&A team, Project Accountant, payroll staff and departmental staff throughout  to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all transactions, actual results, financial information, and reports.
• Supports foreign office accounting and reporting, including preparation of financial statements with notes and coordinating with auditors.
• Coordinates month-end close procedures and tasks
• Maintains and documents Corporate Accounting processes and procedures.
• Works closely with the Tax team to ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory tax matters.
• Delivers various reports and analysis to interpret or communicate actual financial results to various audiences (board, management, budget, and project owners)
• Actively adheres to compliance and risk management policies and participates in business continuity planning.
• Completes other tasks as directed by the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, Supervisor, Corporate Accounting, or Director, Corporate Accounting to ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting by the Corporate Accounting team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have:
 

• A professional accounting designation (CPA)
• Three to five years relevant experience with at least two years post-designation experience.
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards Accounting Standards (IFRS) and consolidations
• The ability to lead, mentor, and develop a small team of Analysts.
• Well-rounded knowledge of all aspects of accounting, financial reporting and audit processes and procedures
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities
• The ability to proactively look for ways to increase efficiencies in how work is performed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills related to technical matters.
• Initiative, drive, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• A demonstrated track record of achieving results in a complex business environment working across a variety of stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• A team player with excellent interpersonal abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail

Preferred:
 

• Experience using MS Dynamics NAV accounting software and Jet Analytics reporting software, and/or Workday Financials Position:
