Senior/Chief Estimator

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Estimator to lead our pre-construction and estimating team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with extensive experience in ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) and multi-family residential construction. As the Chief Estimator, you will play a critical role in driving project success through accurate cost forecasting, risk analysis, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the estimating team through all phases of project estimation, from conceptual budgets to hard bid and negotiated tenders.

• Prepare and review accurate cost estimates for various construction projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine scope and prepare estimates.

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.

• Develop and implement estimating tools, templates, and best practices to improve consistency and efficiency.

• Manage tendering processes and lead bid reviews and proposal preparation.

• Provide strategic input during the pre-construction phase including value engineering, scheduling, and constructability reviews.

• Collaborate closely with project management, construction, and development teams to align budgets with project goals.

• Mentor and develop junior estimators and support staff.

• Monitor market trends and cost fluctuations to ensure competitiveness and accuracy in all estimates.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.

• Strong knowledge of local construction markets, trades, and building practices in the Lower Mainland.

• Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field.

• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Timberline, Bluebeam, OST, or similar).

• Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Proven leadership and team development abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
