About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction estimating, including earthworks, utilities, roadworks, and site servicing for residential, commercial, and municipal projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely bids for both public and private sector work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates

• Conduct quantity take-offs for earthworks, underground utilities, roads, curbs, sidewalks, and other civil components

• Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing

• Prepare and submit competitive tenders and budget proposals within tight deadlines

• Collaborate with project managers and field staff to ensure alignment on scope, methods, and production rates

• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required to understand project conditions

• Maintain up-to-date pricing databases, unit cost history, and productivity rates

• Evaluate tender results, track win/loss rates, and assist with project handovers upon contract award

• Provide value-engineering and alternative solutions to optimize project pricing and constructability

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in estimating for civil construction projects

• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., B2W, HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or equivalent)

• Strong understanding of civil construction methods and BC municipal standards

• Excellent organizational, mathematical, and analytical skills

• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment

• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license
