Our client is a well-established heavy civil contractor with a strong presence across Western Canada, delivering complex infrastructure, underground utility, transportation, and road construction projects. With decades of industry experience, they have built a reputation for safety, quality, and successful project delivery across municipal, provincial, and private sector clients.
They are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join their estimating team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong heavy civil background who enjoys preparing competitive bids, collaborating with operations teams, and contributing to the successful pursuit of infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Prepare complete cost estimates and tender submissions for small, medium, and large heavy civil construction projects.
- Develop estimating strategies and execution plans for competitive bid submissions.
- Solicit, evaluate, and incorporate subcontractor and supplier pricing into estimates.
- Prepare detailed self-perform estimates, including labour, equipment, materials, and production costs.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in bid review meetings with senior leadership.
- Support RFQ and RFP submissions, including joint venture pursuits when required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure estimates align with project execution strategies.
- Assist with contract negotiations and pre-qualification submissions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of heavy civil estimating experience on infrastructure and construction projects.
- Experience preparing estimates, tender submissions, and contract negotiations for projects of varying size and complexity.
- Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, production rates, and project execution.
- Experience estimating underground utilities, road construction, earthworks, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
- Engineering designation (P.Eng.), EIT, technical diploma, or equivalent industry experience is considered an asset.
- Experience working within the Lower Mainland market is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience using Hard Dollar estimating software is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight bid deadlines.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
