MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for a Sr Distribution Engineer in Burnaby, BC. Our client, a Crown Corporation, is one of Canada’s leading energy providers. They generate, transmit, and distribute electricity, operating an extensive network of hydroelectric and thermal generating stations across British Columbia.

Responsibilities: 

• Provide professional and technical advice for System Improvement and Major Distribution projects, acting as Professional of Record or Owner's Engineer.
• Review external consultants' work to ensure accuracy and compliance with engineering standards, contributing to technical standards and design practices.
• Conduct complex engineering analyses including circuit analysis and equipment design for load flow, voltage stability, and protection coordination studies.
• Recommend system improvements and facilitate the integration of new customers, collaborating closely with Distribution Engineering and Planning teams.
• Share engineering expertise by guiding engineers and technical staff, fostering innovation, and prioritizing safety and environmental considerations.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating effectively to deliver Capital Projects.

Requirements: 

• Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with relevant experience, and be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
• Possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience in utility distribution engineering or a related industry.
• Demonstrate comprehensive technical knowledge in overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems up to 35kV.
• Embody values of safety, teamwork, service, integrity, accountability, and ingenuity, showcasing strong leadership and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrate outstanding organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a solid understanding of project lifecycles and familiarity with project management methodologies like PMI.
• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License
