MatchBox consulting is seeking a Senior Environmental Lead for one of our clients who are a well-established consulting firm offering integrated environmental services across the BC and AB region. 

This growing team is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Environmental Lead to join their ranks, and play a pivotal role in developing and expanding the Environmental Services team. Location: Burnaby or Langley, BC (Hybrid work model)

Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Growth:

• Lead a small but growing team of environmental scientists, with opportunities for team expansion.
• Assist in the strategic direction and growth of the environmental services business unit.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering skill development and a collaborative culture.

2. Project Management & Business Development:

• Lead environmental service delivery for a range of projects across BC, from planning to execution.
• Develop proposals, project scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring successful delivery of high-quality work.
• Represent the company at industry events to build relationships and expand business opportunities.

3. Technical Expertise & Regulatory Support:

• Manage and lead the preparation of environmental assessments, permits, and regulatory approval applications.
• Oversee technical reports, mitigation strategies, and environmental management plans for various projects.
• Advise on environmental impact assessments, fish habitat restoration, and sustainability initiatives.

4. Mentorship & Staff Coordination:

• Supervise, coordinate, and mentor environmental scientists and technicians in the delivery of environmental consulting assignments.
• Provide leadership and expertise in environmental monitoring during construction phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, aquatic biology, environmental science, forestry, or a related field.
• Registered Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio) or eligible for registration.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental consulting, with strong exposure to environmental impact assessments and regulatory processes.
• Experience in business development, particularly in building out environmental services in BC.
• Strong understanding of municipal, provincial, and federal environmental regulatory processes.
• Proficiency in environmental reporting, impact assessments, and site mitigation designs.
• Experience with civil engineering projects in BC is a bonus.
