Job Title: Estimating Manager – ICI
Location: Edmonton, AB
Job Type: Full-time

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Estimating Manager to lead the preconstruction and estimating team for a dynamic and growing general contractor based in Edmonton. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in the ICI (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial) sector and a strong background in collaborative delivery methods such as design-build and integrated project delivery (IPD). This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of estimating, ensuring accurate and competitive bids, and mentoring a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of budgets, estimates, and proposals for projects across a variety of sectors, including commercial, institutional, and mixed-use developments

  • Manage, mentor, and support a team of estimators, ensuring best practices in quantity takeoffs, pricing, and bid strategy

  • Review project documents to determine scope, risk, and complexity, and provide strategic input on bid/no-bid decisions

  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders during preconstruction and tendering phases

  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing

  • Oversee the preparation of conceptual and detailed estimates at all stages of design

  • Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and align with project goals and delivery models

  • Support the transition from estimating to operations upon award, ensuring a smooth handoff and proper documentation

  • Implement and maintain estimating tools, templates, and cost databases to enhance efficiency and accuracy

  • Contribute to company-wide process improvement and innovation in estimating and project delivery

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 7+ years of experience in estimating with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or managerial role

  • Proven experience with ICI construction projects and collaborative delivery models (IPD, design-build, CM)

  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, current market conditions, and trade scopes

  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., WinEst, Sage Estimating, OST, Procore, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
