MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Estimator for our client, a highly respected general contractor with a long-standing presence across Western and Northern Canada.

This opportunity is based out of the Calgary office, which is currently a small but rapidly growing team. The successful candidate will step into a key role supporting the build-out of the local estimating group while working on large-scale institutional projects valued up to $100MM.

The Role

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Senior Estimator will provide full-cycle estimating support across multiple delivery models, including Construction Management, Design-Build, Lump Sum, and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and complete estimates, including quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and subcontractor/supplier pricing

• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier quotes

• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers

• Support conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimating phases

• Participate in client meetings, project interviews, and tender closings

• Develop subcontractor scopes of work for tendering

• Prepare proposals and estimates for management approval and submission

• Identify estimating risks and develop mitigation strategies

• Maintain unit price, productivity data, and estimating databases

• Collaborate with project teams during preconstruction and project handover

• Mentor and support junior estimating staff

• Assist with training, software maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of estimating experience within a general contracting environment

• Proven experience estimating institutional projects, ideally up to $100MM

• Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline

• Operations experience (Project Coordinator or Project Manager) considered an asset

• Strong knowledge of multiple delivery models (CM, Design-Build, Lump Sum, IPD)

• Advanced quantity takeoff skills (manual and electronic)

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Experience using Bluebeam and estimating software such as InEight (strong asset)
