We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Edmonds (2–3 days in-office) to join a senior-level engineering team supporting complex geotechnical design and analysis projects. The focus is on transmission infrastructure, including overhead and underground systems, and associated civil structures.
This is a hybrid opportunity for candidates passionate about geotechnical engineering, field work, and supporting high-impact infrastructure projects across British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and seal engineering documentation in accordance with EGBC and internal standards, including reports, specifications, calculations, and design packages.
• Plan and lead geotechnical site investigations, field testing, and data analysis for stations, dams, overhead lines, and underground facilities.
• Perform geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, dam performance, foundation design, and seismic assessments.
• Design ground improvements, instrumentation systems, and retaining structures; oversee grouting programs and construction site supervision.
• Interpret data from LiDAR, GIS, and geotechnical sources to inform engineering decisions.
• Provide construction support, field reviews, and mentorship while managing scope, schedule, and cost across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, ideally in utility or infrastructure environments.
• Registered P.Eng. or P.Geo. with EGBC, or eligible for registration.
• Strong technical background in:
  • Soil mechanics, embankment dam design, and ground improvement methods
  • Foundation and retaining structure design
  • Seismic hazard and deformation analyses
  • Site instrumentation and construction monitoring
• Proficiency with industry software: Rocscience (RS2, RocFall), GeoStudio (Slope/W, Seep/W), FLAC, PLAXIS, MODFLOW, etc.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Ability to lead fieldwork and site investigations
• Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
