On behalf of our client, Matchbox Consulting is seeking a Superintendent with residential wood frame experience.  

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Superintendent to oversee day-to-day operations on our construction sites. The ideal candidate will be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, budget management, job site safety, and maintaining daily reports that accurately track site progress.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Health and Safety Leadership: Demonstrate leadership in health and safety and environmental protection on the project.
  • Site Management: Plan, coordinate, and manage all site tasks, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and develop team members through regular feedback, training, and coaching.
  • Quality Compliance: Ensure compliance with all contracts and specified requirements, including quality standards.
  • Project Meetings: Lead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project’s ongoing progression, including maintaining daily reports.
  • Work Supervision: Supervise on-site workers to ensure their work is planned and performed efficiently.
  • Schedule Management: Work directly with the Project Manager to develop, maintain, and drive the construction schedule.

Education & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Site Superintendent on concrete mid or high-rise projects.
  • Minimum 6 years as a Superintendent.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with multiple platforms and operating systems such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, etc.) and experience with Procore Construction Management Platform and BluBeam.
  • Relevant certifications such as Gold Seal Certification (GSC), Carpentry Trade Qualification, or Occupational First Aid (OFA) are assets.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of subcontractors and tradespeople.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, materials, and building codes relevant to wood frame construction in British Columbia.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity, and safety at all times.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in construction management software
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle to travel to Tsawwassen.
