MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a permanent role. This position would be based out of Montreal and would be a hybrid position (majority remote-1-2 days in office per month)

What You'll Do

• Collaborate within an agile team to build a scalable and highly available application platform.
• Take part in requirements analysis and grooming sessions, contributing valuable insights.
• Apply performance and scalability best practices when developing software.
• Develop backend features, from API implementation through middleware and backend infrastructure.
• Clearly document and communicate architectural and implementation decisions.
• Work closely with product managers, testers, and application architects.
• Troubleshoot, strengthen, support, and enhance the existing production platform.

 
Required Qualifications/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including design, data structures, algorithms, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in server-side development.
• Proven expertise in architecting, developing, and deploying large-scale, distributed, and mission-critical services.
• Strong knowledge of event-driven architectures and systems.
• Experience designing and building asynchronous applications.
• Background in microservices architecture design and implementation.
• Ability to apply design patterns and effectively separate concerns within distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience developing AWS cloud-native applications.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with MySQL or other relational databases.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following technology stacks:
  • JavaScript ecosystem: Node.js, TypeScript
  • Java ecosystem: Quarkus, Spring Boot
• Experience working with React and TypeScript on the frontend is a plus.
• Familiarity with WebSockets is beneficial.
• Exposure to the LAMP stack is a plus.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
