Senior Solutions Architect

MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Senior Solutions Architect for a permanent position with a client of ours located in Vancouver. This is an on-site position 4 days per week (one day remote) in the companies Mount Pleasant based office.

Technical Skills

1. 7–10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3–5 years in a Solution/Solutions Architect or similar senior technical leadership role, ideally in fintech or payments
2. Deep hands-on expertise with Python for back-end services and Node.js for web applications and APIs
3. Strong experience designing and operating production systems on Google Cloud Platform (e.g., GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL/Firestore, IAM, networking)
4. Proven track record designing secure, scalable RESTful APIs and web-based SaaS platforms
5. Solid knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and integration patterns (e.g., message queues, webhooks, event-driven architectures)
6. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, GitHub Actions, or similar)

Leadership and Domain Skills

1. Experience working with payment systems, financial services, or other highly regulated or high-availability platforms is strongly preferred
2. Strong understanding of security best practices in financial applications, including encryption, key management, authentication, authorization, and logging
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineers, foster collaboration across disciplines, and build high-performing teams
4. Proven experience overseeing development teams and managing technical delivery in fast-paced environments
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in simple language for product, strategy, and business stakeholders
6. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, in-person, collaborative environment from our Vancouver office (Mount Pleasant)
