MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Transmission Engineer with experience in transmission line planning, design, and construction projects for a 1-year contract, with strong renewal potential, supporting one of BC’s largest utility and clean energy organizations.

This role is ideal for a project professional who thrives in structured environments, enjoys working cross-functionally, and has experience managing construction or infrastructure initiatives from planning through execution.

This is a hybrid opportunity based in Burnaby, BC. 2 days/ week onsite is required, remote candidates will be not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity transmission projects and operations
• Develop safe engineering solutions through design development, technical analysis, problem resolution, and interpretation of engineering specifications
• Lead and coordinate multi-discipline design teams on transmission engineering projects
• Support project and operations management in achieving safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives
• Prepare progress reports, coordinate work schedules, and recommend changes to project plans and estimated costs
• Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering issues through independent studies and analysis
• Support transmission line planning, design, construction, and project execution activities
• Participate in engineering practice initiatives including technical standards development, mentoring, and engineering studies
• Review contractor work completion and recommend payment approvals
• Ensure compliance with EGBC Permit to Practice requirements and company engineering standards

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in transmission, utilities, or related infrastructure environments
• Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC or eligible for immediate registration
• Strong background within the electrical utility industry
• Experience leading and coordinating multi-discipline engineering teams
• Understanding of transmission systems, operations, and project delivery processes
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with CAD systems, engineering design/analysis software, and MS Office applications
• Class 5 Driver’s License required
• Experience with substations, telecom, protection & control systems, and large construction projects considered an asset
• Previous utility experience considered an asset
