Site Superintendent – Commercial Construction

Location: Vancouver & Lower Mainland, BC
Salary: $100,000–$135,000, plus profit sharing and benefits
Project Values: $1M–$35M
Start Date: Immediate or within 1–2 weeks preferred

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent on behalf of our client, a respected general contractor delivering commercial construction projects throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

The successful candidate will oversee projects across the financial, restaurant, office, and retail sectors. You will be the senior on-site leader responsible for coordinating trades, maintaining the construction schedule, resolving field issues, and ensuring each project is completed safely and to a high standard.

This opportunity is best suited to a Superintendent with a proven background delivering commercial tenant improvements, renovations, or new-build projects. Candidates whose experience is primarily in residential construction—including wood-frame or concrete multifamily—will not be considered unless they also have substantial, recent commercial project experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily site operations from mobilization through project completion and closeout.

  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and material deliveries.

  • Develop and maintain short-term schedules while supporting the overall construction schedule.

  • Work closely with the Project Manager to align field execution with project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.

  • Chair site meetings and represent the contractor in discussions with clients, consultants, architects, and trades.

  • Identify and resolve constructability, sequencing, and coordination issues.

  • Maintain daily reports, RFIs, change documentation, deficiency lists, and other project records.

  • Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, building codes, and quality standards.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive site.

  • Support cost control by identifying efficiencies, limiting rework, and communicating potential cost impacts promptly.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience in commercial construction, including experience as a Site Superintendent.

  • Demonstrated success delivering commercial projects such as offices, restaurants, retail spaces, financial institutions, or complex tenant improvements.

  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, quality control, and site safety.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and consultant documentation.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with clients and trades.

  • Organized, solutions-focused, and comfortable managing several competing priorities.

  • Experience using Procore or comparable construction-management software. Familiarity with SiteDocs, Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, or Outbuild is an asset.

  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel between sites throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

  • Must currently reside in Greater Vancouver and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

  • Availability to begin immediately or within one to two weeks is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $100,000–$135,000, based on experience.

  • Annual profit-sharing bonus tied to company performance.

  • Comprehensive benefits package for employees and their families.

  • Modern project-management and field technology.

  • Long-term advancement opportunities with a growing contractor.

  • Collaborative and supportive company culture.

If you are an experienced commercial Superintendent who takes ownership of your sites and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-moving environment, we encourage you to apply.
