MatchBox Consulting Groups is seeking a Strategic Business Analyst/Business Decision Support Professional to work on a 1 year contract, with high renewal potential, for one of BC's largest clean energy and utility companies. 

They will support key business initiatives related to system process mapping, data cleaning, and business requirements gathering. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical individual who enjoys working with stakeholders, documenting business processes, and supporting data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will play a critical role in improving business operations and enhancing system efficiencies. 

This position is based out of our client's Downtown Vancouver location in a hybrid model (2 days in office). Remote candidates can be considered if they meet all the requirements and can work PST Hours – however, the manager's preference is someone who can visit office

Key Responsibilities:
• Help develop and maintain business documentation, including standard operating procedures, user guides, and training materials.
• Assist in developing and maintaining system process maps to document workflows and business operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, academic units, and administrative staff, to support project implementation.
• Work with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for process improvements and system enhancements.
• Assist in identifying pain points and inefficiencies in existing processes and propose actionable solutions.
• Support data cleaning and preparation to ensure data integrity for reporting and analysis.
• Perform basic data analysis to support decision-making and improve process effectiveness.
• Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure successful implementation of system changes.
• Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Community of Practice Support:
• Maintains an internal knowledge base to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
• Works with Practice Leads or content owners to review proposed content and provide recommendations on how to integrate into the internal framework.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of documentation.
• Supports development and design of Product Managers events.
• Preparing bi-weekly hub communications and the monthly, newsletter, and Lunch and Learn sessions.
• Attends meetings and prepares monthly reports to highlight content changes to the Practices, Procedures, and system instructions.

o Preparing the session content
o Managing and maintaining the Mentimeter
o Booking the prep meetings with speakers
o Looking 3-6 months ahead to plan session schedules using feedback from partner teams and Mentimeter
o Coordinating the Camtasia screen recording
o Publishing documents after the session
o Sending out session notes/materials

Product Release Process Support:
• Harmonizing all documents/records for the Product Release Process.
• Actively maintaining/managing deliverables lists, links, etc.
• Updating the Product Workplan fields.
• Monitoring Product Workplan discrepancies, cleaning up, and following up with partners to assist in making their edits.
• Coordinating the Document Release notification for all operational documents related to products, processes, and systems on a monthly basis.

Requirements:
Must haves:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
•    1+ years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, or a similar role (internships or co-op experience included).
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and process workflows.
•    Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice to have:
•    Experience working with business process documentation tools (e.g., Visio, SharePoint, Confluence, Jira) is an asset.
•    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
•    Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
•    Experience working with enterprise systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, CRM tools) is an advantage.
