MatchBox Consulting Group is on the hunt for a Structural Engineer in Whitehorse, YK. Our client is a prominent Canadian consulting firm specializing in transportation and municipal infrastructure projects. Known for their innovative designs and sustainable solutions, they focus on enhancing roadways, bridges, and urban transit systems. Their collaborative approach ensures efficient project delivery and exceptional client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed structural engineering designs and drawings for various projects, including commercial, recreational, municipal, industrial, and residential buildings using mass timber, light-frame wood, concrete, and steel.
• Collaborate and coordinate structural deliverables with architectural, civil, landscape, mechanical, electrical, and other project team members.
• Support construction administration and perform field reviews, including travel to remote locations throughout Yukon.
• Complete assessments, prepare reports for buildings and structures, and ensure quality assurance practices are maintained.
• Participate in project meetings and continuous improvement initiatives while staying current on industry trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. or E.I.T., or equivalent technologist designations.
• Proficient with structural analysis software (e.g., Risa, RFEM, Sizer) and drafting software (Revit).
• Knowledge of structural theory, National Building Code of Canada (NBC), and Canadian Design Standards (O86, S16, A23.3).
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel; knowledge of cold climate and seismic design is a plus.
• Experience with 3D modeling, prefabrication, construction, and working as a prime or subconsultant is beneficial.
