Matchbox Consulting Group is currently partnering with a leading Canadian engineering firm to recruit a Structural Lead for their Calgary office. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior structural engineer passionate about architectural buildings, mass timber, and integrated project delivery to join a collaborative and growing Buildings/Structural team.

Location: Calgary, AB

About the Role:
As Structural Lead, you will take ownership of diverse building projects, mentor and guide junior team members, and contribute to the growth and success of the Buildings/Structural sector. You will be involved in:

• Leading projects from concept through completion, ensuring quality, timelines, and budgets are met.

• Coordinating proposals, resourcing, and business development activities.

• Building and maintaining client relationships.

• Overseeing internal documentation standards and cost estimation processes.

• Providing day-to-day technical leadership and mentorship to a team of junior and intermediate engineers.

• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and fostering a positive team culture.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligibility through reciprocity.

• Minimum 10+ years of consulting engineering experience in Mass Timber, Concrete, Steel, Masonry, and Wood design across Institutional, Residential, Industrial, or Commercial projects.

• Strong understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, and building science systems, Canadian codes, standards, and construction techniques.

• Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and mentoring 5–7 junior/intermediate engineers.

Assets:

• Exposure to water/wastewater or other civil infrastructure projects.
