Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tenant Improvement (TI) Superintendent to oversee commercial interior renovation and build-out projects in the Surrey area. The successful candidate will be responsible for on-site project execution, managing trades, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of tenant improvement work across office, retail, and institutional spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day on-site construction activities for TI projects, including coordination of subcontractors, materials, and inspections.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure work is completed according to design and project requirements.
- Lead and monitor site safety practices, ensuring full compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety policies.
- Work closely with project managers to maintain schedule, resolve site issues, and communicate progress and challenges.
- Ensure high standards of quality control and cleanliness throughout all phases of construction.
- Conduct daily site reports, maintain accurate records, and support project documentation and closeout procedures.
- Coordinate occupancy requirements and liaise with property managers, consultants, and building owners as needed.
- Manage site logistics, deliveries, and access in high-traffic or occupied environments.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent or Foreperson, with a focus on commercial tenant improvements.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, architectural drawings, building codes, and trade sequencing.
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and construction documents; comfortable using construction management software (e.g., Procore, SiteDocs, Buildertrend).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Occupational First Aid Level 1, WHMIS, and other relevant safety certifications preferred.
