Technician / Technologist
Location: Surrey, BC (Primarily On-Site)
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential Extension)
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Technician / Technologist to support one of British Columbia's largest utility providers. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded professional who enjoys a hands-on role supporting equipment testing operations, inventory management, and technical administration within a collaborative engineering environment.
In this role, you'll help ensure electrical test equipment and tools are properly maintained, tracked, and ready to support critical field operations while providing technical and administrative support to engineers, technologists, and testing personnel.
Responsibilities

Maintain and track electrical test equipment, tools, and inventory records.

Coordinate equipment assignments, returns, retirement, and documentation.

Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and database records.

Support equipment readiness and maintenance coordination.

Provide technical and administrative support to engineering and testing teams.

Compile, organize, and analyze operational data using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications.

Assist with inventory control and operational processes to support efficient equipment management.

Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.

Support continuous improvement of equipment tracking and operational procedures.
Qualifications

Diploma or certificate in Engineering Technology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 4 years of related technical or operational support experience.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications.

Experience with inventory control, equipment tracking, technical documentation, or operational support.

Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or equivalent) in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience supporting utility, engineering, testing, maintenance, construction, or industrial operations.

Experience coordinating equipment maintenance and asset management activities.

Familiarity with technical documentation and engineering support processes.

Experience working in a safety-focused environment.
Work Environment
-
Primarily onsite at the Surrey Service Centre.

Occasional travel to other facilities or field locations may be required.

Position involves safely moving and organizing equipment, tools, and materials in accordance with WorkSafeBC guidelines and established safety procedures.
