About the Opportunity
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking Telecom Engineers (Intermediate & Senior) for a major infrastructure organization.
This role focuses on the design and delivery of telecommunications systems supporting utility operations, including SCADA, grid protection, and secure network infrastructure. You’ll work on large-scale telecom networks that are critical to system reliability and modernization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and support telecom networks and transport systems
- Prepare engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation
- Support IP/MPLS network architecture, configuration, and implementation
- Contribute to QoS and traffic engineering for critical systems
- Provide support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with project teams to meet technical, schedule, and safety requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
- P.Eng. or EIT (EGBC), or:
- Registered in another jurisdiction and eligible for transfer, or
- Actively pursuing registration in British Columbia
- 4+ years (Intermediate) or 8+ years (Senior) of relevant experience
Telecom Experience
Design experience with at least one of the following telecom technologies
- Microwave radio links, fiber optic networks (DWDM/OTN), WIMAX-radio network, satellite communications, Power Line Carrier links, LTE, leased facilities, Digital cross-connect switches, SONET multiplexer, Tetra/VHF/UHF mobile radio, teleprotection, -48V DC power systems and grounding, and TDM (SONET/PH) and IP/MPLS circuits, including circuits carrying teleprotection and RAS.
- Experience in IP/MPLS architecture and design—covering IPv4/IPv6, OSPF. IS IS, BGP. MPLS/VPN, EVPN, Segment Routing, QoS, Traffic Engineering, and security across large scale LAN/WAN environments
- Experience in configuring and deploying Nokia IP/MPLS platforms, including L2/L2VPN, and QoS technologies
Certifications (Assets)
- Cisco (e.g., CCIE)
- Nokia certifications (NRS, SRA)
Additional Skills
- Strong technical writing and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and solve complex technical problems
- Understanding of project management, contract management, and construction oversight
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License for site visits and field support
Additional Information
- Hybrid work schedule with three days per week in the Burnaby office
- Occasional travel within British Columbia may be required to support telecom infrastructure projects
- The role is classified as safety-sensitive, and pre-employment testing may be required as part of the hiring process
