MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for a Transmission Asset Planning Engineer in Vancouver, BC.

Responsibilities:

• Independently conduct power system studies, including short circuit, power flow, and stability assessments, and perform annual TPL evaluations, network integration, and interconnection impact studies.
• Develop transmission system reinforcement options to address constraints, providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
• Offer subject matter expertise on Transmission Planning and mentor new planning engineers.
• Collaborate with adjacent utilities on planning activities, conducting inter-utility studies, and creating coordinated solutions.
• Represent BC Hydro PC interests in WECC/NERC working groups, with knowledge of NERC reliability standards and WECC planning criteria.
• Develop a GIC model, perform GIC/GMD studies, validate power system models, and create methodologies for MRS standards compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, recognized by Canadian universities, with preference for candidates with a Master's or PhD in Power Systems.
• Over 10 years of experience in power system studies, including short-circuit calculations, power flows, voltage and dynamic stability, with model validation and geomagnetic study experience as an asset.
• Registered or eligible for Professional Engineer status with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
• Proficient in power system simulation tools like PSS/E, GE-PSLF, DSATools, or similar programs such as Power World and ASPEN.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles related to system operations, transmission design, and system protection and control.
• Familiarity with Mandatory Reliability Standards, transmission utility regulations, and effective communication and organizational skills for team collaboration.
