The Engineer is a senior professional engineer or geoscientist responsible for delivering engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services on medium to high-complexity projects. The role requires independent judgment to develop designs, resolve complex technical issues, and ensure work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.

Contract: 1 year
 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review engineering designs, analyses, and technical solutions for complex projects.

• Resolve advanced design and field engineering issues through independent study and analysis.

• Prepare progress reports, coordinate schedules, and recommend changes to plans and cost estimates.

• Establish design bases, criteria, and concepts; provide technical guidance to other engineers.

• Define scope, approve technical documentation, and report on project progress to stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with professional practice, quality management, and documentation requirements.

• Apply own or firm’s Permit to Practice for sealed work and retain required project records.

Must-Haves

• Engineering degree in electrical, civil, structural, or mechanical engineering from a recognized Canadian institution.

• Minimum 10 years of utility engineering experience, including significant electrical substation work.

• 4+ years of project engineering or project management experience (formal or as lead engineer/work package manager).

• Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC.

• Experience leading multi-discipline design teams in protection, control, and telecom systems.

• PMP certification.

• Expert knowledge of project management principles and roles.

• Strong electric utility engineering background with a transmission system and operations mindset.

• Excellent relationship management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Strong technical knowledge of substation design, transmission lines, and interconnections.

Nice-to-Have

• Good working knowledge of transmission line design.
