MatchBox is currently seeking a Transmission Stations Geotechnical Senior Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Burnaby, BC. This is a hybrid position (2–3 days/week in-office) supporting the geotechnical design and assessment of transmission stations and associated facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
General:

• Develop engineering solutions and resolve complex geotechnical challenges.
• Prepare and seal technical documents in accordance with EGBC and internal standards.
• Coordinate work packages, schedules, and scope of services.
• Provide field engineering and construction support as required.

Geotechnical Specialty:

• Perform and review seismic ground response analyses (e.g., SHAKE®).
• Oversee site investigations, including drilling, CPT, and lab test planning.
• Analyze shallow and deep foundation systems (e.g., grillage, piles).
• Review and design ground improvement methods (e.g., DCM, vibro-replacement).
• Assess and mitigate risks including liquefaction, cyclic mobility, and groundwater issues.
• Prepare technical reports, QA plans, and construction monitoring programs.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• Professional Designation: P.Eng. or P.Geo. with EGBC (or eligible for registration).
• Permit to Practice: Required (individual or via firm) before assignment begins.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years in geotechnical engineering, ideally within electric utility or infrastructure projects.
• Software Skills: SHAKE®, WEAP, MS Office Suite, CAD tools, digital seal platforms (e.g., Notarius).
• Communication: Strong English skills, both written and verbal.
• Field Experience: Soil classification, in-situ testing (SPT, CPT, DCP), lab testing.

Additional Information:
This role includes both Owner’s Engineer and Engineer of Record responsibilities, including seismic review, terrain mapping, settlement analysis, preload design, pile foundation input, slope stability, and geotechnical risk identification and mitigation.
