Wind Farm Specialist and Estimator

About the Opportunity
MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting on behalf of a leading renewable energy construction organization delivering large-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects across Canada. This organization is part of a well-established North American infrastructure platform with decades of experience executing complex energy projects.
This is an opportunity to join a growing renewables team and play a key role in shaping estimating processes and best practices while supporting Canada’s energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop project-specific schedules in collaboration with project management, engineering, scheduling, field accounting, and construction teams
• Prepare crew-based production estimates using historical data and research
• Develop complete bid and proposal packages and support client-facing proposal presentations
• Prepare bid reviews including methodology, assumptions, risk and opportunity assessments, and historical data analysis
• Collaborate with engineering throughout the design phase to ensure constructability and scope clarity
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced data-driven estimating practices
• Support the successful delivery of renewable energy projects that meet safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives
• Collect and integrate key client inputs into estimating tools and cost models
• Review estimates with clients to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, budget, and procurement strategy
• Respond to client inquiries in a collaborative and solutions-focused manner
• Coordinate with procurement and project development teams on subcontractor and supplier bidding
• Develop or review subcontract and supplier scopes, pricing, and schedule exhibits
• Support local and Indigenous / First Nation bidding initiatives

Required Skills & Competencies

• Solid understanding of EPC project delivery and construction methodologies
• Ability to break down construction means and methods into crew-based production models
• Experience developing and implementing dynamic estimating tools and cost models
• Ability to mentor and support the development of junior team members
• Working knowledge of scheduling software (Primavera P6 preferred) and estimating tools (Hard Dollar experience considered an asset)
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent

• Experience supporting construction or project delivery in the Power Generation or Renewable Energy sector
• Strong understanding of engineering design, estimating, scheduling, bidding, project administration, subcontracting, budget control, safety, and quality assurance
• Thorough knowledge of materials, equipment, and construction methods used in renewable energy projects
