MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for a Business Developer in Edmonton, AB. Our client is a commercial general contractor out of Edmonton and serving all of Alberta. They pride themselves on delivering superior construction and renovation services to their clients. In this role, the successful candidate will be reporting to the Construction Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strategic Business Development:
  • Develop and execute strategies and objectives to support business development goals, including identifying market potential and implementing action plans to enhance market share.
• Project Acquisition and Research:
  • Lead the business development process by acquiring and defining project opportunities, conducting market research, managing client contacts, and preparing high-quality proposals and presentations.
• Competitive Market Analysis:
  • Understand competitors in the market, identify new trends, and develop strategies to win new business, including participating in estimating/budgeting for competitive proposals.
• Leadership and Communication:
  • Provide financial leadership on projects, establish profit margins, transition projects to Project Managers, and maintain open communication with senior leadership to address potential issues and opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years in business development, with a focus on commercial construction.
• Industry Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of construction procedures, building codes, project scheduling, cost control, and safety standards. Experienced in defining scopes of work, pricing labor and materials, and utilizing technology for business development.
• Analytical and Organizational Abilities:
  • Proficient in analyzing financial data, modeling development pro-formas, and managing complex workflows. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Communication and Leadership:
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to produce professional proposals and presentations. Demonstrated ethics, teamwork, and an entrepreneurial spirit focused on achieving goals and maintaining quality.
