MatchBox Consulting is seeking a Senior Project Manager for our client, one of Canada’s most respected general contractors.  As a senior construction project manager for our client, you will lead significant institutional, commercial and mixed-use projects through construction.  

You will combine 5+ years of progressive project management experience with a strong post-secondary technical education.  Construction will be your career and your passion – you love the combination of technical knowledge and people skills required to successful deliver multi-million dollar projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and identify new project opportunities, and lead proposal responses with team support when needed.
  • Develop and maintain the Master Project Schedule, manage contracts and subcontracts, and lead preconstruction planning activities.
  • Oversee project administration, document control, and ensure all team members understand project objectives, scope, and contractual requirements.
  • Hold financial start-up meetings, manage cost code allocations, and oversee the financial requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Execute quality management programs, support on-site productivity, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Establish and monitor construction schedules, track productivity, and hold regular subcontractor progress meetings.
  • Manage risks, review RFIs and change orders, and ensure all work complies with legal and contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and issue subcontracts, manage payments, resolve disputes, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Oversee project close-out, manage warranty-related issues, and ensure timely project completion.
  • Lead recruitment efforts, mentor and develop project team members, and conduct annual performance reviews.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management
  • Proven track record of successful commercial or institutional project management of major building construction in excess of $50 million
  • Accomplished in delivering projects under a variety of contract types including Construction Management, Design Build, and Hard Bid 
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project or Primavera P6, SAP, Electronic Document Management System, Bluebeam, and Plan grid
  • Deep expertise and a proven track record with respect to the continuous improvement of project delivery services and value added constructability processes and practice
  • Proven ability to ensure the successful completion of projects, their profitability, and retaining owners as continuing clients of the company
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through delivering presentations, negotiating, and communicating to a variety of stakeholders including clients, management and site employees
