Location: Burnaby, BC
MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Program Manager on behalf of one of BC’s largest electrical and utilities providers. This 12-month contract role will be based in Burnaby, BC.
Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced contractor to establish and lead a Program Management Office (PMO) for Non-Integrated Areas (NIA) initiatives. This critical position focuses on providing structure, coordination, and oversight for multiple complex business process projects.
The successful candidate will bring expertise in program management, process development, and stakeholder coordination to drive transformational change and support strategic objectives, including advancing reconciliation. A key element of this initiative involves working collaboratively with First Nations and communities to enhance access to clean, reliable, and affordable electricity. This includes supporting the development of renewable energy projects and integrating them into NIA microgrids to reduce diesel usage and improve system resiliency.
This role requires establishing efficient processes, creating schedules, tracking milestones and resources, and ensuring effective communication and coordination. It is ideally suited for a professional who thrives in dynamic, transformative environments and is passionate about delivering impactful and sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Establishment:
- Design and implement a PMO framework to organize and integrate current and future business process projects.
- Develop processes, governance structures, and tools for effective program oversight.
- Ensure alignment with broader organizational strategies and objectives.
Program Management:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and coordination of multiple business process projects to ensure timely delivery and resource optimization.
- Track schedules, budgets, and deliverables at both the project and program levels.
- Create a cohesive program-level strategy by integrating individual projects.
Pre-Project Activities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and scope business process and project requirements.
- Support planning activities, resource forecasting, and stakeholder alignment.
Post-Project Activities:
- Coordinate ongoing operations, including process monitoring, administration, and issue resolution.
- Develop and oversee training programs to build local capacity and ensure the sustainability of project outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Manage relationships with internal teams and external partners, including First Nations communities, government funders, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of twelve (12) years of project management experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated expertise in program management, particularly in setting up and leading PMOs for business process projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Proficiency in project/program management tools and software, including MS Project, SharePoint, Excel, and others.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and coordinate complex projects.
- In-depth knowledge of process development, governance, resource planning, and communication, including regular reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
