MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Procurement Specialist to work on a 1-year contract with high renewal potential for one of BC’s largest utility and clean energy companies. This is a hybrid role based out of Burnaby, BC.

About the Role

The Procurement Specialist is accountable for delivering assigned outcomes related to the development and execution of category and project supply chain strategies, sourcing strategies, and sourcing activities following established processes and quality requirements. This role involves low to medium complexity work assignments and offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure and energy projects that power British Columbia.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop and plan the implementation of category and/or sourcing strategies or related work packages, applying strong skills in communication, analysis, critical thinking, planning, supplier/market research, and problem-solving within a large and complex organization
• Implement sourcing strategies using a thorough understanding of sourcing and category management processes, good project management practices, knowledge of public sector procurement law, and relevant supply chain concepts
• Lead and/or support projects including developing and conducting RFPs, preparing for and conducting negotiations (initial award and extensions), and implementing supplier relationship management initiatives including resolving escalated contract or supplier issues
• Establish and maintain positive, productive relationships with supply chain teams, business partners, suppliers, and stakeholders through timely communication, issue resolution, and relevant reporting

Must Haves

• Minimum 5 years of sourcing, category management, or equivalent experience, preferably in a large and complex organization
• Proven experience leading complex procurement initiatives involving multiple stakeholder groups
• Advanced customer service skills
• Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Advanced English skills, written and spoken
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Finance, or equivalent

Nice to Haves

• Experience in infrastructure or capital project sourcing
• Advanced education or certification in Supply Chain Management
• Certification or additional education in Project Management
