Responsibilities
Safety Program & Compliance

• Support implementation of the company’s Health & Safety Management System aligned with WorkSafeBC and BC OHS Regulations
• Assist in developing project-specific safety plans, safe work procedures, and Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs)
• Ensure all safety documentation meets regulatory and record retention requirements

Site Inspections & Hazard Management

• Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate risks
• Monitor high-risk activities including excavation, trenching, traffic control, heavy equipment, confined space, and fall protection
• Track and follow up on corrective actions to ensure resolution

Training & Orientation

• Deliver site orientations for workers, subcontractors, and visitors
• Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and task-specific briefings
• Reinforce worker rights and responsibilities under applicable legislation

Incident Response & Reporting

• Respond to incidents and near misses on site
• Support investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting in line with regulatory requirements

Documentation & Systems

• Maintain safety records including inspections, incidents, training logs, and equipment checks
• Oversee and manage entries within digital safety platforms (e.g., Salus or equivalent)

Emergency Preparedness

• Support emergency response planning, drills, and site readiness
• Ensure emergency equipment is available, inspected, and compliant

Qualifications

• CSO certification recognized in BC (BCCSA, ASTTBC, or equivalent)
• Occupational First Aid Level 2 or 3
• Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and the Workers Compensation Act
• Experience in civil or heavy civil construction environments preferred
• Familiarity with digital safety platforms (e.g., Salus) is an asset
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract
• Comfortable working in active, outdoor, and remote project environments
