MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a SCADA Transmission Engineer (E3) to support substation and transmission system projects in a hybrid environment based in Burnaby.

This role focuses on SCADA system design, configuration, and integration within electrical utility infrastructure. The successful candidate will support capital projects involving remote monitoring and control systems across substations and transmission networks.

This position is well suited to an engineer with hands-on SCADA experience who enjoys a mix of design, testing, and field support work within utility environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and support SCADA systems for transmission and substation projects (12kV–500kV)
• Prepare engineering deliverables including design packages, specifications, test plans, and reports
• Configure and program RTUs, gateway devices, network equipment, and related SCADA components
• Support integration, testing, and commissioning of SCADA systems
• Perform troubleshooting and resolve technical issues related to SCADA systems
• Conduct field reviews and provide construction support as required
• Develop device point assignments and system configurations
• Support lab testing and validation of SCADA configurations prior to deployment
• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to support project delivery
• Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams and end users
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and design practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC, or eligible for registration
• Valid Permit to Practice (P2P) prior to start
• Minimum 4+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Experience with SCADA systems design, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with RTU systems (GE D400, D20, D200, D25, IBOX or similar)
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet networks, DNP3, Modbus protocols, and related systems
• Experience working in electrical utility substations (12kV–500kV)
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
• Intermediate proficiency with CAD tools and engineering software
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Basic First Aid Certification
