MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a SCADA Engineer (E3) to support transmission and substation projects in a hybrid environment based in Burnaby.

This role focuses on SCADA systems design, integration, and support within electrical utility infrastructure. The successful candidate will contribute to engineering design, system configuration, and field support across transmission and substation environments.

This position is well suited to an engineer with hands-on SCADA experience who is comfortable working across design, testing, and field execution.

Responsibilities

• Design and support SCADA systems for transmission and substation environments (12kV–500kV)
• Prepare engineering deliverables including design packages, specifications, test plans, and reports
• Configure and program RTUs, gateway devices, and communication systems
• Support integration, testing, and commissioning of SCADA systems
• Perform troubleshooting and resolve system issues across SCADA and communication networks
• Conduct field reviews and provide construction support as required
• Develop device point assignments and system configurations
• Support lab testing and validation of SCADA configurations
• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to support project execution
• Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams and end users
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and design practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC, or eligible for registration
• Valid Permit to Practice (P2P) prior to start
• Minimum 4+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Experience with SCADA systems design, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting
• Experience working with RTU systems (GE D400, D20, D200, D25, IBOX or similar)
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet networks, DNP3, Modbus protocols, and related systems
• Experience working in electrical utility substations (12kV–500kV)
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
• Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering software
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Basic First Aid Certification

Assets

• Experience with automation and advanced SCADA systems
• Familiarity with NERC standards
• Previous experience working in utility environments
