MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to join our client, a well-established Western Canadian builder that is building a 6-storey, 110-unit woodframe residential project in Burnaby. This role sits under an experienced Director of Health & Safety and plays a key part in driving site compliance, proactive risk management, and daily safety leadership across a fast-paced multi-trade environment.

This is a hands-on field role suited to someone who leads from the front and takes ownership of site safety outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate subcontractor safety documentation for completeness and compliance
• Maintain and manage safety documentation checklists and filing systems
• Conduct site orientations for all new workers and trades
• Collect, review, and track daily hazard assessments
• Maintain daily headcount and site attendance records
• Perform daily site inspections and document compliance with safety standards
• Lead toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings
• Respond to first aid incidents and complete required investigation reporting
• Conduct ongoing risk assessments and implement corrective actions
• Verify certifications and qualifications for all site personnel
• Prepare monthly safety reports including incidents and infractions
• Support development and refinement of safe work procedures and safety talks

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 Occupational First Aid certification
• Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification considered a strong asset
• Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC OHS Regulations
• Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills across all levels on site
• Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive mindset in field conditions
• Ability to prepare clear documentation and maintain consistent reporting standards
