THE OPPORTUNITY
Matchbox Consulting Group is partnering with one of BC's most recognized privately held real estate developer-builders looking for an HR Manager to join their growing people team.
Our client is a well-capitalized, legacy developer with a significant land portfolio and an active pipeline of industrial and mixed-use projects across Western Canada. They build and invest regardless of market conditions, which means real stability and a genuine long-term runway for the people who join them.
This is a strong fit for a junior to intermediate HR professional who is ready to step up. The scope covers performance management, compensation, and development, and you will be working across both a trades and construction workforce and a polished corporate office environment. That range is what makes this role genuinely interesting and genuinely challenging. You need to be equally comfortable having a straight conversation with a site superintendent and sitting in a room with senior leadership. If you can do both well, there is a lot of room to grow here.
WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT
- A real step-up opportunity into a high-visibility HR seat at a big-name, well-respected developer with serious growth ahead.
- Exposure across both the trades and construction side of the business and the corporate office, giving you a breadth of experience that most HR roles at this level do not offer.
- Work directly with senior leaders and decision-makers from day one.
- A company that is actively growing its HR function, meaning the person who comes in now will have real influence over how programs are built and what the function looks like long term.
- Stable, well-capitalized organization that does not slow down when the market does.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Support and help lead the annual performance review cycle and ongoing performance management processes across the business.
- Assist with compensation planning including bonus frameworks and calibration discussions.
- Help drive learning and development initiatives with a focus on leadership coaching and capability building.
- Act as an HR partner to business leaders across development, construction, and corporate teams.
- Support HR systems including UKG and Lever to improve reporting, workflows, and day-to-day efficiency.
- Coach managers on performance conversations, feedback, and team development.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR programs and bring consistency to a growing organization.
WHO YOU ARE
- 3 to 7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a mid-size private organization.
- Some background in performance management, compensation, or employee development.
- Comfortable working with trades, construction, or operational teams as well as corporate office staff — this is non-negotiable.
- Personable and direct enough to connect with blue-collar workers, and polished enough to hold your own with senior leadership.
- Hands-on, low-ego, and happy to roll up your sleeves in a non-bureaucratic environment.
- Familiar with HRIS platforms; UKG experience is a plus.
- Someone who wants to build and grow, not just maintain what already exists.
WHAT IS ON OFFER
- Compensation: Competitive, disclosed upon application
- A genuine step-up into a senior HR role at a high-profile, growing developer
- Direct access to senior leadership and real influence over how HR programs develop
- Broad exposure across trades, construction, and corporate environments
- A stable, well-capitalized company with a long-term view and a strong reputation in the market
