MatchBox is urgently seeking a specialist for a Functional Analyst (Business Analyst – Enterprise Asset Management) for a 14 month contract opportunity for our New Westminster based public sector client. This is a hybrid position where candidates must be located in the lower mainland.
Functional Analyst (Business Analyst – Enterprise Asset Management)
Project Overview
The Inventory Optimization Project is focused on delivering enhancements that improve inventory management processes within the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) environment. The initiative will leverage Agile delivery methodologies to maximize business value and will primarily involve enhancements and optimization within the HxGN EAM platform.
Reporting to the Manager, Analytics & Development, the Functional Analyst will work closely with the Product Manager, Product Owner, business stakeholders, and technology teams to analyze business needs, define requirements, and support the delivery of effective EAM solutions that enhance inventory and asset management capabilities.
Role Summary
The Functional Analyst serves as the key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that Enterprise Asset Management solutions align with operational objectives and business requirements. This role requires a combination of strong business analysis skills, functional expertise in EAM processes, and the ability to support solution design, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify, elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
- Evaluate current-state and future-state business processes and recommend improvements that support operational objectives.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions with business and technology stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs), user stories, and use cases.
- Perform fit-gap analyses to identify process and system improvement opportunities.
Solution Design & Delivery
- Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, developers, and technical teams to design and implement solutions that align with business goals.
- Analyze solution options and assess their ability to meet business requirements and operational needs.
- Collaborate with technology stakeholders to identify system, service, or process gaps and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Support configuration, enhancement, and optimization of HxGN EAM and related enterprise applications.
- Apply functional and technical expertise to investigate issues, evaluate root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Support and/or lead the development of test strategies, test plans, and testing activities.
- Create detailed use case scenarios and convert them into test scripts and test cases.
- Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Validate delivered solutions against documented business requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure traceability between requirements, design, testing, and implementation activities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Documentation
- Facilitate communication between business units, project teams, vendors, and technology stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain project and solution documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop training materials, user guides, and supporting documentation as required.
- Support change management and user adoption activities associated with system enhancements.

Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Applied Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of recent Business Analysis or Functional Analysis experience supporting enterprise applications within an IT environment.
- Experience working within Agile delivery methodologies and cross-functional project teams.
- Strong experience in requirements elicitation, process analysis, solution design, testing, and stakeholder management.
- Experience creating BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process models, and testing documentation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with HxGN EAM or other Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions such as IBM Maximo, SAP EAM, Oracle eAM, Infor EAM, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of inventory management, asset management, maintenance management, procurement, and warehouse processes.
- Experience supporting inventory optimization or supply chain-related initiatives.
- Familiarity with ITIL, Modern Service Management, Lean, DevOps, and continuous improvement practices.
- Experience working in asset-intensive industries such as utilities, transportation, manufacturing, mining, or public sector organizations.
