Project Accountant – ICI Construction

Location: Richmond, BC
Salary: $60,000–$75,000, depending on experience
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Accountant for an established Western Canadian general contractor delivering industrial, institutional and commercial projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction accounting professional who wants to work closely with Project Managers and take ownership of project financials from initial setup through closeout. You’ll join a collaborative team, gain exposure to projects across Western Canada and play a visible role in keeping budgets, billings and costs on track.

What You’ll Do

• Manage project accounting and financial administration from setup through closeout

• Establish budgets, cost codes, contracts and billing structures

• Process subcontractor and supplier invoices, purchase orders and project expenses

• Prepare progress billings, owner invoices, holdbacks and project claims

• Track change orders, commitments, approved extras and budget adjustments

• Maintain accurate job-costing records and project financial documentation

• Reconcile budgets, committed costs, actual costs, billings and forecasts

• Support WIP reporting, forecasting, accruals and month-end close

• Monitor receivables and assist with outstanding payments

• Partner with Project Managers to identify variances, billing issues and financial risks

• Maintain subcontractor documentation, including WCB, insurance, statutory declarations and lien requirements

What You Bring

• 2+ years of construction accounting experience, preferably with a general contractor

• Strong knowledge of job costing, progress billing and project cost controls

• Experience with AP, AR, invoice coding and project reconciliations

• Understanding of holdbacks, statutory declarations and construction billing

• Strong Excel and accounting-system skills

• Excellent accuracy, organization and deadline management

• Confidence communicating with Project Managers, subcontractors and suppliers

Nice to Have

• Experience with Procore

• Familiarity with Sage 300, Viewpoint, Jonas, CMiC or similar software

• Knowledge of CCDC contracts, WCB, insurance and bonding documentation

• Experience supporting projects across multiple provinces

• Accounting, finance or business-related education

• CPA enrolment or designation
